Leucadendron Plumosum Female
Leucadendron Plumosum Female is recognised for its scale-like cones with red-brown bracts tipped in silvery-grey, adding texture and seasonal character to wholesale floral lines and export bouquets. Strong stems and cold-chain handling ensure reliability in transit and display.
Leucadendron Plumosum Female (Leucadendron rubrum) is valued for its compact, conical heads made up of overlapping, scale-like bracts. Colouring ranges from deep red-brown to chestnut with distinctive silvery tips, giving a pinecone-like appearance. Primary colourway: red-brown cones with silver-grey edging. This unique texture makes Plumosum suitable for mass-market bouquet fillers, seasonal promotions, wholesale straight-line bunches, and design-driven arrangements that call for rustic, cone-like elements. Locally cultivated in the Western Cape of South Africa by supplier farms, it is produced to export-ready standards.
Quality & Handling
- All stems are cut at the correct maturity with consistent lengths, tight grading, and clean foliage. Bracts and cones are checked for uniform colour and integrity.
- Field heat is removed immediately after harvest through cold-shock, and product is maintained under an unbroken cold chain from farm to freight.
- Vase life is typically 12–18 days, extended to 21 days when handled optimally. Re-cut stems by 2–3 cm at a sharp angle, remove any foliage below the waterline, and place in clean buckets with fresh water or preservative solution.
- Hydrate for at least 4–6 hours before onward distribution or display.
- Not strongly ethylene-sensitive, but chronic exposure shortens vase life and reduces market quality.
- Lead times and freight rates vary by destination.
- All products are subject to seasonal availability, please contact us for current availability, pricing and export options.
- Bulk pricing available for large-volume orders; minimum order quantities apply.
- Dedicated export solutions with competitive freight arrangements.
